Nothing is as welcome, wonderful and at the same time, as stressful as the holidays. You know what I mean. They are essentially all things to all people at this point, and most of it ain’t easy!
All the friends, all the family and all the work. Everything needs tending to. Everything needs to be just right, or someone is not happy. Well, I can say for us that we will be doing our part to make everyone feel the warmth of the season.
Music makes everything better; even OUR music, that is.
We didn’t entertain much over the holidays, but enough to share our talents with friends, family and customers wherever we set up shop. For the most part, Carl and I played at The Fifth Tavern in Clarkston. In the newly remodeled bar area, we settled in on a Friday night and began doing whatever it is that we do. Actually, bringing timeless music to diners from 6 – 9:00 Pm.
The food is always outstanding, the staff is attentive and the vibe is pretty laid-back for a evening night out with friends.
We begin pretty slow, easy and quiet, and then by the end of the evening . . . are pretty slow, easy and quiet. Not much changes, but the smiles on the faces of the many happy customers.
We always enjoy it, and are pretty certain that the customers do as well. Can’t wait until we are back out on the patio, though; that is by far the best!
Yes, the holidays come and go, and the calendar rolls over without fail. For more than 50 years now, Carl and I have been rolling with it, and plan on continuing for a bit more.
One thing that makes it all incredible is watching the holidays through the eyes of a young child. Being able to spend time with friends and family is wonderful enough, but when you get the chance to see Christmas through the eyes of your grandson, that is what life is truly all about. It never gets old.
I’ve sung to a lot of people throughout my long life, but watching his face as I sing to my grandson is priceless. Its a Christmas gift that simply cannot be matched.
