There are some groups that simply can’t go a year without inviting us to play for them. Â And that’s fine for us. Â The East Harbor seniors are one of those groups. Â We get the call at least once a year to come and share ur Irish favorites with them over in New Baltimore around St. Patty’s Day.
This year was no exception, a wonderful assembly of smiling faces, tapping toes and clapping hands, with only the boss being different. Â When we play in a place like this, one that we have been for years, we even enjoy it more because of that simple element of comfort and familiarity. We arrive, set up and before we know it, are playing a first set of mostly Irish tunes and sing-a-long songs. Â Once those songs landed, it was time to open our playbook to include all the favorites that would make the ladies get up and cut loose.
We don’t play very long, but we certainly do pack a lot of songs into a short amount of time. Â We just go with the flow, throwing in a sprinkling of Irish tunes as the night evolves. Â Before you know it, we are packing up and clearing out; leaving a trail of happy seniors in our wake.
