Through the years, playing Irish music for many appreciative fans has been one of the most rewarding things we have ever done as a duo. The ritual sighting of the little green Leprechaun has always seemed to foretell the promise of spring right around the corner.
It is always OUR start to a new music year. We begin (unofficially) with St. Patricks’ Day and segue from there right into our yacht-rock spring and summer. By then the long Michigan summer usually doesn’t give in to fall until the mid-weeks of October, when we are no longer entertaining outside. So you see, we can’t wait to get this party officially started!
We begin at East Harbor Senior living home, where we have been for years now in spring. Singing all our Irish favorites has turned into their favorite entertainment event of the year. Next, we have been asked to be part of an Irish wake. A celebration for a wonderful family we played for, 24 years ago.
After being invited back to sing at The Fifth Tavern in Clarkston, we will return once more to Saint Clair Shores and the Blossom Heath Irish Celebration on Saturday. After packing it all back in the van we were heading to Lake Orion, where we were to once again be part of St. Practice day at Canterbury Village. However, due to strong winds, the power went out in the entire area, and the event was cancelled. Maybe next year will work out better.
Bumper’s Landing will be epic this summer, as they are in the throes of a full-scale expansion. Just being a part of that craziness is something we will always remember.
