promises, promises! - May, 2024

The promise of a new summer season is always just out of reach.  It is when Carl and I begin to prepare. ( in more ways than one).  We know that so many details need to be addressed, and as professional musician’s the very least of them is the music.

Although we play all year round, it is always the spring that motivates us to look forward into honing our show and perfecting our sound.  There are so many aspects of playing live music that I wouldn’t want to bore you with them, because, in reality, no one cares.  The truth is, most people don’t realize or understand all the aspects that go into creating a live musical experience; nor should they.

We are so lucky to have to opportunity of doing it and hope that folks still enjoy our show.  We receive positive feedback after every gig, so we must be doing something right. Let me be clear  that everything we do is a labor of love, for you, the audience. We enjoy trying to imagine what songs you would like to hear and just how they would be received. The music is what drives everything we do.  The music is what drives our reason for entertaining.

We try and listen to the audience and evaluate the requests we get to make our shows better and more relevant. In the end, the music we select tends to be timeless classics that most everyone will enjoy.

Each spring try to identify new music and evaluate how it’s received. If it seems our fans enjoy the song, then we continue to refine it until it’s part of our repertoire. One of the best parts of being a professional musician is the response we get from the crowd. It is usually quite instantaneous, giving us a pretty true metric of whether or not a song we have included in our set is a hit or a miss. I’m sure if you came to one of our shows last May you might of heard one of the new classic songs that you hopefully enjoyed.
