So Many Choices

On a summer’s night in August, there are so many choices; and this particular weekend was a perfect example.  There was the Woodward Dream Cruise, the “Cheeseburger-In-Paradise” weekend in Caseville, and the Armada Fair, just to name a few.  Now, throw in big Tiger and Lions games on the television, and it gives folks even more reason to not go out on the town.  So when people with so many other choices make a point to share their weekend with us at the Three Blind Mice in Mount Clemens; it means even more.

Such was the case on Friday night, when the Mice was rockin’ upstairs, downstairs and all around the patio.  There were birthday parties, gatherings and graduation attendees, all sharing a drink, a laugh and a song.

We hold summer in Michigan in high esteem, and for good reason.  This last brutal winter illustrated once again just how precious those warm, wonderful days can be; and we don’t want to waste even one of them.

With the weather a little cool, we decided to play inside under the shadow of the big barrels.  That being said; playing inside offers us a more intimate experience.  A better chance for us to interact with the customers, as we play their favorites through the evening.

Upstairs, the tradition of fine musicians and bands continued with a visit to the big stage by a group called PUNCH,  who blasted out their version of many well-crafted favorites.

By night’s end, there were calls for encores, which sent everyone home with smiles on their faces.  Summer night in Michigan are precious; and so are memories that will last forever.

A Night For Suzy

Three Blind Mice Irish Pub is a lot of things; and one of them is family.  When one of their own is hurting, they all rally together to do what they can.

And so it was on Tuesday, July 15 2014 when the entire Pub came out to support Suzy Mizinski, who was having a tough time with Cancer.

From The Macomb Daily:
The Three Blind Mice Irish Pub in downtown Mount Clemens will host an all-day fundraiser Tuesday for a server there who is a breast cancer patient.

Owner Brad Teagan set up the fundraiser for Suzy Mizinski, who is described as a beloved co-worker and friend.

“She’s just a beautiful person inside and out,” said general manager Danielle Roberts. “She’s one of those non-judgmental people who is carefree and lives each day to the fullest.”

The event will run from 11 a.m. through closing at 2 a.m., with 15 percent of the day’s sales and 100 percent of silent auction proceeds going to Mizinski.

A number of Macomb County businesses have been gracious enough to donate items for the auctions including a 40-person bowling package from Rec Bowl, wedding vows or renewals by LaDonna Weddings, a 40-inch LED SmartTV from Sargent Appliance, a fishing charter from Sea J Charters and many more.

Three Blind Mice is located at 101 N. Main Street. For more information, call 586-961-6371.

10526068_651913478231443_5135934433129204928_nIt was a great night of support.  People from all walks of life came together in an outpouring of giving; to bring Suzy the message, that she is not alone in her fight.

There were donations, gifts, friends and family present; with each person reaffirming the theme, that she is not alone in her struggle.

Entertainment was also on hand to add a touch of music to this important night.  Shelby and Co. took the outdoor patio stage at 4, and then was followed by Kevin Covert at 8 until midnight.  Inside Bob and Carl entertained while urging patrons and well wishers to donate to this important cause with each song request.

There was even a special guest who sat in and wowed the audience with her vocal talents.

All in all, it was a night to remember.  A night to give, and a night that will let Suzy know just how much people care.

Full Mouse House

T’was a Friday on the patio, and all through the house; everyone was stirring, it was a full mouse.

Great night on Friday. Upstairs, downstairs inside and out; revelers were laughing, drinking and singing along to all kinds of music and merriment. While Carl and I entertained outside, the upstairs stage turned into a PLanet Of Fun. This talented group of musicians have been entertaining locally for a long time, and always playing to full houses wherever they plug in.

We would also like to give a shout out to Beau, the birthday boy who brought his entire posse out to the patio for a great time that many won’t soon forget.

Let It Shine

There are times in your life when you become fortunate enough to meet special people.  People who just seem to see life from a different perspective.  For whatever reason they have a unique quality that appears so special that it almost cannot be defined; other than to simply say, they posses a “light” about them.

When you meet one of these special people, the feeling is so profound, and such a revelation, that it cannot be ignored or go unnoticed.  We simply cannot deny the light in them, because it, in turn, lights our own lives.

They are happy, energetic, positive people that spend their days expressing the world around them in ways other people only wish they could.  In writings, in action and in song.   But beyond most of these things, these special people express their unique light in the example that they live each and every day.

They shine.

And, in doing so, illuminate OUR lives, to take away some of the darkness we all feel.  They give us hope.  They keep us driven on the right path.  They show is the delight in all things.  And, in turn, our lives are much better for it.

Let It Shine

7/29/2011

In this world of cold and dark
I had lost my way
Then at last, I saw your light
And night became the day.

Let it shine . . . on me
Cast the dark away
Let it shine . . . on me
And I will find my way

Each one of us must make a choice
To do what’s wrong or right
To step on those too weak and small
Or step into the light

Let it shine . . . on me
Cast the dark away
Let it shine . . . on me
And I will find my way

Never, ever, are you alone
To bear the weight of that stone
No matter how far from home

And when I’m down and on my own
With nothing left to fight
I’ll raise my hands
Fall to my knees
And bathe within your light!

Let it shine . . . on me
Cast the dark away
Let it shine . . . on me
And I will find my way

Something From Nothing

So it was the fourth of July, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, anywhere at the Mouse . . .

After having a tremendous crowd at Great Oaks this afternoon, we were not quiet ready for what we saw when we arrived at the Three Blind Mice Irish Pub int he evening . . .

. . . nothing.

Well, to be honest, we understood it to be slow, but not THIS slow.  There was no one outside on the patio.  The upstairs was closed; and the inside bar had one table there.

It was going to be a long night, we believed.  This will be a true test of our entertainment skills.  And, entertain we did . . .  We turned one table into a 3/4 full pub by midnight.  And, in the process met another enter cast of new friends.

Sometimes, we feel like people are there to just be at a bar, but on a night like this, we feel that they came for the bar, but stayed for the music.

Great Oaks, Great Day

The weather was picture perfect for a fourth to never forget.  Ah, to be a kid at Great Oaks Country Club on the 4th of July would be something that you would never forget.  The water, the food the music . . .

We certainly didn’t take things for granted, and we have played here for twenty years!

Nothing can beat a setting like this, as we set up pool-side and spend the first part of the day playing to all of the members.  Everything we plays seems to resonate today; hitting all the high notes in people’s memories.  Country, folk, pop and classic rock fill the air, as party goers groove to a summer setting, ripe with family fun.

This is one gig that we never have taken for granted.  Perfect setting, great staff and families that we have practically grown up with over the years.

We will be back on Labor day, and for now at least; it seems far off.  Although, I know that it will be here before we know it.

A Total Blast

A rare night away from the Mice was spent at Total Sports this Saturday night.  They were doing a customer appreciation weekend, and rolled out the free food, entertainment and drink specials .   After a slow start, the evening picked up and allowed all on hand to enjoy a sweet time of relaxation and sports.

The Tigers won, the music created smiles, and the drinks topped off a great time that was had by everyone attending.

Many thanks to Bobby and Eddy for putting together another great event!IMG_2974 IMG_2980 IMG_2982

Friends

Sometimes, nothing pulls you through like having good friends show up.  Un-expected, unlooked for.  Un-announced.

An evening like that can make everything magical.  And, so it was this Friday night at the Three Blind Mice Irish Pub.  Good friends showed up, and made the night extra special.

There was even a surprise birthday party, of what would become new friends for us on this amazing night.

The band upstairs was un-expected as well, as I found out that the lead singer was an old friend from the YMCA in years past.  All grown up and powerful, with a voice to keep the crowd on their feet all night long.

Always a good time; always entertaining.  The Mice never disappoints!

Still Good Music

So, one of the great perks of being at a club that is known for music, is . . . the music!  This Friday night we were lucky enough to get to listen to one of the premier dance bands in the state.  Still Rain was in the house; and shaken’ it down good!
